The best walking foot for a Janome sewing machine, matched to your model

Janome sells seven different even feed feet, and AcuFeed machines don't need one at all. We turned Janome's part lists into one table by model, then picked the feet worth buying on Amazon.

Spec review · Updated · We earn a commission when you buy through our Amazon links.

Find your machine in the table below. Most everyday Janomes (HD3000, JW8100, MOD-30, 3160QDC, Sewist 780DC) are low shank and take Janome's Even Feed Foot 200311003, which is on Amazon. Front-loading models like the Arctic Crystal and HD-1000 need 200310002. Skyline S3 and other 7mm high-shank models need 200309008, 9mm models without AcuFeed need 202137009, and the HD9 has its own high-speed foot. If your Janome has AcuFeed, skip this page: the walking foot is built in.

How we picked

Fit came from Janome. Janome's US site lists every machine each even feed foot fits, by part number, and we read those lists on October 21, 2026 for the Even Feed Foot (seven versions), the Convertible Even Feed Foot Set and the AcuFeed dual feed foot. Retailer model lists don't always agree with Janome's, so where they differ we went with Janome.

Then we searched Amazon for walking feet that Janome owners buy, matched the genuine Janome listings to Janome's part numbers through the manufacturer part number in each listing, and kept third-party feet with real sales and ratings. Third-party listings say "low shank" or "high shank" rather than naming every Janome, so we tell you how to check them.

This is a spec review. We compared Janome's fit lists with the product listings; we didn't fit each foot to each machine. How we research.

From Janome's product pages for each part number, read October 21, 2026. The low-shank lists run to about 100 machines each, so this table shows the common ones. If yours isn't here, log in to Janome's site to see your machine's compatibility, or ask a Janome dealer.

Brother or Singer too? Our Brother walking foot guide works from Brother's SA140 and SA188 lists, and the Singer walking foot guide decodes Singer's fit groups.

Low shank, high shank, front loading or AcuFeed

Janome splits its feet two ways. The shank is the height of the bar the foot screws onto: low shank on most everyday models, high shank on the bigger 7mm and 9mm machines and the HD9. Then the bobbin system: Janome's front-loading machines, with the bobbin case loaded from the front, have their own foot, separate from the top-loading low-shank ones. Stitch width sets the opening in the foot, which is why the 9mm machines get a different part from the 7mm ones.

Choosing a Janome walking foot A decision chart. First question: does the machine have AcuFeed? If yes, use the AcuFeed foot, no walking foot needed. If no: is it an HD9 or 1600P? If yes, part 767403016. If no: is it front loading? If yes, part 200310002. If no: is it high shank? Low shank takes 200311003. High shank 7mm takes 200309008. High shank 9mm takes 202137009. Has AcuFeed? Yes: AcuFeed foot, no walking foot needed HD9 or 1600P? Yes: 767403016 (high-speed models) Front loading? Yes: 200310002 Shank and width Low: 200311003 High 7mm: 200309008 9mm: 202137009 Each "no" drops to the next question. Part numbers from janome.com, October 21, 2026.
Four questions get you from your model to the right Janome part number.

Not sure about your shank? Our presser feet guide shows how to measure it: about half an inch from the bottom of the foot to the center of the screw is low shank, about an inch is high shank. The manual's optional-accessories page also lists the part.

Best for most Janomes

Janome Even Feed Foot with Quilting Guide (200311003)

This is the genuine Janome foot for the machines most people own: the HD3000, JW8100 (which already includes one), MOD series, 3160QDC, Sewist line and Magnolias are all on Janome's list for it. The Amazon listing gives the manufacturer part number 200311003 and says the quilting guide is detachable. It showed 100+ bought in the past month when we checked.

Amazon's title calls these "horizontal rotary hook" models, which is Janome's way of saying top-loading drop-in bobbin. If your bobbin loads from the front, scroll down to 200310002.

For 7mm high-shank models

Janome Even Feed Foot with Quilting Guide (200309008)

The high-shank 7mm foot. Janome's list for 200309008 is short: the Skyline S3, its Anniversary Edition, the Memory Craft 11000 Special Edition and the Memory Craft 1000. Amazon labels it for "Memory Craft embroidery machines", which is true but vague, so match the part number rather than the title.

Why it stands out

  • Genuine Janome part with a quilting guide
  • The only high-shank 7mm option Janome lists besides the open toe and convertible versions

  • Your machine is low shank; it won't fit
  • Your Skyline has AcuFeed (S6 and up); you don't need it

For 9mm machines without AcuFeed

Janome Even Feed Foot for 9mm Without AcuFeed (202137009)

The 9mm machines that lack AcuFeed need this one, and the listing names the Skyline S5 and the 9900. A 7mm foot on a 9mm machine risks a needle strike on a wide stitch, so don't substitute. The listing also pitches it for topstitching collars and sleeves, where a bulky seam allowance pushes the top layer ahead.

For front-loading Janomes

Janome Even Feed Foot with Quilting Guide (200310002)

Janome's budget and heavy-duty front-loaders, including the Arctic Crystal and HD-1000, are on a separate list, and this is their foot. Amazon titles it "oscillating hook models", the hook that goes with a front-loading bobbin case. The listing also names Juki and Singer models with the same hook, which tells you the design is shared across brands.

Best third-party open toe for low-shank Janomes

HONEYSEW Open Toe Walking Foot with Guide

The best-selling walking foot we found, at 1,000+ a month. It's a low-shank open-toe foot, and the open toe is the reason to choose it over Janome's closed 200311003: you can see where the needle enters, which makes stitch in the ditch easier. The listing names Brother and Singer rather than Janome and gives no width, so fit it and turn the handwheel before you sew a zigzag.

Why it stands out

  • Open toe with a guide bar
  • Large owner base and steady sales

For the HD9 and 1600P

CKPSMS High Shank Walking Foot (alt. 767403016)

The HD9 and 1600P are straight-stitch, high-speed machines, and Janome's foot for them is 767403016. We didn't find that genuine part on Amazon. This third-party foot lists 767403016 among its alternate part numbers and names the HD9 and 1600P. The listing is clear that it fits high-shank straight-stitch machines only.

It's the weakest-rated pick here (4.1 stars), so if a Janome dealer can supply 767403016, that's the surer buy.

AcuFeed machines: you already have one

AcuFeed is Janome's built-in top feed. Janome says its AcuFeed foot is "specially designed to engage the AcuFeed system, and move the top layer of fabric in sync with the bottom layer." The Sewing Machine Man newsletter explains the difference: the AcuFeed foot has metal teeth and is driven from inside the machine, while a normal walking foot rides the needle clamp screw on a lever.

Janome lists its AcuFeed foot and holder (859819017) for 24 machines, from the Skyline S6, S7 and S9 to the Continental M17 and Memory Craft 15000, and the older AcuFeed foot (846570013) for the Memory Craft 6600P and 7700QCP. Owners of those machines should buy AcuFeed feet, not walking feet. One example is the Janome AcuFeed quilt piecing foot (twin) for 9mm machines, a 1/4 inch foot that works with the AcuFeed holder. Check that your model uses the twin-type holder before you buy it.

The Skyline S6 is our pick for serious quilters in the best Janome sewing machines, and AcuFeed is a big part of the reason.

Straight-line quilting on a home machine, done with a walking foot or AcuFeed, is how most family quilts get finished.

Open toe, closed toe or the convertible set

For low-shank machines, Janome sells the closed-toe 200311003, an open-toe version with a quilting guide (200339007) and the Convertible Even Feed Foot set (214517004), which Janome describes as a closed-toe even feed foot plus an open-toe sole, a ditch quilting guide and an adjustable quilting guide. High-shank 7mm machines have the same three choices (200309008, 200338006, 214516003), and 9mm machines have the plain foot or the convertible set (202133005).

If you'll mostly quilt in the ditch, the open toe or the convertible set is worth the extra. For general straight-line quilting and binding, the closed toe does the job. We only found the closed-toe versions on Amazon; the others are sold through Janome dealers.

Janome also sells a Rotary Even Foot (3237777) that feeds with belts instead of teeth. Janome pitches it for knits and leather, and for hems with a step in thickness, and lists it for high-shank 7mm, low-shank and front-loading models. It's an alternative for those fabrics, not a quilting foot.

A cheaper generic option for low-shank Janomes is the YEQIN 7mm even feed walking foot, which names Janome in its listing, states its width and says plainly it is a non-OEM replacement made in Taiwan.

Fitting and using it

Every Janome even feed foot fits the same way as other walking feet: remove the foot holder, hook the foot's arm over the needle clamp screw, tighten the screw firmly and turn the handwheel by hand to check the needle clears the foot. Our guide to using a walking foot has the step-by-step, plus stitch length by batting and the guide bar. Janome's page for the even feed foot also calls it "great for topstitching", which is worth knowing for jeans and bags.

If your Janome is a heavy-duty HD3000, our Janome HD3000 review covers what else it does well, and our quilting machine picks include the JW8100, which ships with this foot in the box.

Questions people ask

What walking foot fits a Janome sewing machine?
It depends on the machine type. Most low-shank Janomes, including the HD3000, JW8100, 3160QDC and Sewist 780DC, take Janome's Even Feed Foot 200311003. Front-loading models such as the Arctic Crystal and HD-1000 take 200310002. High-shank 7mm models like the Skyline S3 take 200309008, 9mm models without AcuFeed take 202137009, and the HD9 takes 767403016.
Does the Janome HD3000 take a walking foot?
Yes. Janome lists the HD-3000 and HD-3000 Black Edition for its low-shank Even Feed Foot, part 200311003, and for the open-toe version, 200339007. It is not included in the box; Janome lists it as an optional accessory.
Do Janome AcuFeed machines need a walking foot?
No. AcuFeed is Janome's built-in top feed. Janome says its AcuFeed foot engages that system to move the top layer in sync with the bottom, and lists it for machines including the Skyline S6, S7 and S9, Continental M6, M7, M8 and M17, and Memory Craft 6700P, 8200, 9450 and 15000.
Is a Janome a low shank machine?
Most everyday Janomes are. Janome's low-shank Even Feed Foot list covers about 100 models, from the HD3000 and MOD-30 to the 3160QDC and Magnolia line. Higher models such as the Skyline S3 and Memory Craft 11000 are high shank, and Janome's front-loading machines take their own foot.
Will a generic walking foot fit my Janome?
A generic low-shank walking foot will fit most low-shank Janomes, and listings such as HONEYSEW's and YEQIN's 7mm foot name Janome. It won't fit a high-shank model, a 9mm model or the HD9. Fit it, then turn the handwheel by hand to check the needle clears the foot before you sew.
What is the difference between Janome's open toe and closed toe even feed feet?
The open toe version leaves the needle area visible, which helps with stitch in the ditch and following a line. The closed toe covers more fabric around the needle. Janome sells both for low-shank and 7mm high-shank machines, and the convertible set includes both soles plus quilting guides.
